I trust you had a Christ- and joy-filled Christmas. As we enter the new year, many of us are looking forward; some with resolutions to birth change, some in anticipation and some apprehension, not certain what 2019 holds for them.
Whichever group you fall into, I have great news for you. God has already spoken concerning 2019 and all your tomorrows. Where? In His Word; you can have everything He promises in His Word in 2019. The bible is our more sure word of prophecy (2 Peter 1:19) and God’s Word is His will for our lives. The gospel is designed to give us all that God intended for us before sin happened. Because you are the prophet of your own life, (Proverbs 18:21 and James 3:4), you can agree with all that God says about you and see it come to pass in your life in 2019 and beyond.
In looking forward to the new year, it seems we have all the time to work out the issues of and/or plans for our lives and fulfil our individual callings. However, 365 days go by so fast. If we put in God’s hands what He has committed to us to do- we shift responsibility back to God; and it is not His. God has done all in Christ and what is left is yours to do. Don’t forget that yesterday was once a tomorrow. God considers procrastination a sin (James 4:17). You must choose to live life intentionally today, not tomorrow and not according to your plan, but according to His plan. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a good plan for our lives. We don’t choose it, we discover it. This plan is what forms the blueprint or the hope that our faith needs to be effective (Hebrews 11:1 – Now, faith is the substance of the things hoped for).
As you discover God’s plan, let it feed your hope. Look to Him also for the steps and the connecting dots. It is line upon line and precept, upon precept, here a little, there a little. Isaiah 28:10 and Psalm 27:23. Work at incorporating habits to help you succeed in life one step at a time. John Maxwell says it well, “the secret of your success is found in your daily routine”.
A few things I purpose to do in 2019:
- Passionately pursue God – through the study of the Word. It is the truth I know that makes me free. If I don’t know the truth in an area of life, (have a revelatory knowledge) I cannot walk in freedom in that area.
- Take care of my body; it is not mine and I need a healthy body to serve God.
- Discover God’s plan and work it out by faith and listening to Him for the steps.
- Rest in His grace, after all it is His plan and He is bringing me along for the ride.
How about you? Where do you want to go from here? My prayer for you is that you will live large in the blessing and be fruitful in 2019.
Yours in His service,
Ayodola & the W2NM Team
